Bread and Butter and More to Come...

I got an email yesterday that a new single from EPDM (El Perro Del Mar) was now on Spotify. Yes, I was pretty excited! I've been listening to EPDM aka Sarah Assbring from the very beginning and love her style and simplicity in her songs. And her new song 'Bread and Butter' is no different. It brings the same style to the plate that she's known for with a bit of an Oriental twist. And it's the first single of her forthcoming album 'Kokoro', which I look forward to!

Take a listen and enjoy. :)

Sorrow for a Cause

Last year I came up with an interesting concept drawing that turned into an oil painting and ended up landing in the hands of a non-profit organization that combats human trafficking. The painting in it's later stages begun to take on more meaning, that of a broken heart, fleeing into the night from life's heartaches and the broken promises of loved ones. I think in part the theme came from watching friends getting hurt in their relationships, watching love being dashed and hope crushed and wondering if real love even exists anymore. I'm sure many out there wonder the same thing. So when it was bought by The Repairer of Broken Walls, it seemed perfectly suited to their cause, a cause that reaches out to women (and men) who have lost hope, been taken advantage of, who's dreams and pretty much their livelihood have basically been crushed, some who are in bondage and see no way out. But that's their mission...to help them find a way out.

Here are a few stages of the painting, from sketches to the final framed painting being used at one of their events. And if you're interested in helping support this organization, you can visit them at The Repairer of Broken Walls web site. :)

Creativity on the Beach

A few months ago while at Newport Beach, I thought I'd get a little creative with 2 things I love: the beach, and Rockstar. So I shot a nice little cameo shot of Rockstar against the waves. Thought it turned out quite nice. After bringing it into Photoshop and using a few filters and color adjustments I created what you see here. Nothing too fancy but happy with the outcome. I for one like to get the best shot as possible with as few filters as possible. Of course, this is really for fun and nothing too serious...not yet anyways. ;)

Note: If you'd like to use this image in any way, whether online or print, go for it! I only ask that you give me the proper credit as you would any artist would deserve. Thanks!

New Music on the Horizon

This new year (and the end of last year) has brought on some new ideas and a new approach to my songwriting. Lately I've begun to take greater interest in analog sounds and have been writing in that style, as well as using more sounds from my Arturia keyboard. I'm hoping to update both my hardware and software to bring even more creative analog sound to the plate. By mid-year, if all goes well, I will have more room in my finances to master a few tracks, which would be nice! An EP towards the end of the year would be even better but we will see.

But in the meantime, I'll be experimenting, writing and finalizing my songs and preparing them for mixing/mastering. For now, here is a preview of one such song currently in progress. Hope you enjoy! :)
