Last year I came up with an interesting concept drawing that turned into an oil painting and ended up landing in the hands of a non-profit organization that combats human trafficking. The painting in it's later stages begun to take on more meaning, that of a broken heart, fleeing into the night from life's heartaches and the broken promises of loved ones. I think in part the theme came from watching friends getting hurt in their relationships, watching love being dashed and hope crushed and wondering if real love even exists anymore. I'm sure many out there wonder the same thing. So when it was bought by The Repairer of Broken Walls, it seemed perfectly suited to their cause, a cause that reaches out to women (and men) who have lost hope, been taken advantage of, who's dreams and pretty much their livelihood have basically been crushed, some who are in bondage and see no way out. But that's their mission...to help them find a way out.
Here are a few stages of the painting, from sketches to the final framed painting being used at one of their events. And if you're interested in helping support this organization, you can visit them at
The Repairer of Broken Walls web site. :)
